From the airport to Costa Daurada in no time!

To get to Costa Daurada, there are two airport options for your family: El Prat – Barcelona or Reus Airport. The second one is definitely closer, but it’s a smaller airport with less flights and airport connections.
From El Prat – Barcelona, first you’ll have to get to Barcelona centre. For that, check our post where we explain all you need to know to make that trip go smoothly. Although, you may consider renting a vehicle to get to Costa Daurada on your own and moving around the area freely. It is definitely an option to consider and a great one! The car trip is around 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your exact destination. There are several car renting companies at the airport, two of the most common ones are Centauro and Europcar.
If you decide to use public transportation. Once you get to the city, you need to go to Estació de Sants. There you will have to take the R16 train heading to Tortosa. The last 8 stops of this train are within Costa Daurada, from Tarragona, Cambrils and Hospitalet de l’Infant to Ametlla de Mar, Amposta and Tortosa. It depends on where you get off, but the train ride is about 1:45h to 2:30h.
Travel 4 baby tip: once you get off the train, if you are planning to move around Costa Daurada, we recommend you rent a car as the public transportation to move from town to town is not that frequent. If you decide to do so, remember to bring your driver’s license, passport, ID and your necessary permit in case you’re not from the EU.
From Reus airport the journey might be longer even though it is closer to Costa Daurada due to a worse public transportation connection. What you will have to do is take a 30min bus from the airport to the train station, the L50. From there you need to take the train R15 to Vila-Seca and it takes around 15 minutes. There you will be able to take the R16, which will already take you to the different towns from within Costa Daurada – and just like that, enjoy your family trip!
If you want to rent a car in Reus, you have several car rental companies at the airport. Two of the most common ones are Hertz and Europcar.
