Mercadillos hippies or Street Markets

Explore Ibiza through their traditional street markets: Las Dalias and Es Canar, a must when visiting Ibiza. They hold lots of history and sell unique handcrafted items you won’t find anywhere else. 

• The first one, Las Dalias, is located on the outskirts of the town San Carles de Peralta. If you want to go during the morning, on Saturday the market opens from 10 to 20. But we recommend you to go either on Monday, Tuesday or Sunday as they do a “night market”, opening up from 19 to 0:30 so you are able to look through everything without the heat of the island and with the nice ambiance of live music. These opening and closing times are all from June to September, as during other seasons they may vary.
• The second market, Es Canar, is located in the street “Avinguda Punta Arabí” which is why the market is often called Punta Arabí as well, within the town of Es Canar. This market is the oldest and biggest of Ibiza, more than 500 craftsmen that sell some wonderful and unique items – some you will even have the luxury to see working on their craft right there at the market. A great family-friendly experience, as they even have a Hippy Kids stand, a play zone area for the little ones where they can have some fun doing their own crafts. The market opens from 10 to 19 on Wednesdays.

Cala D’Hort (Orchard’s Creek) & Cala Bassa (Raft’s Creek)

Very close to each other in the southern side of the island you can find these creeks, a great way to explore the beaches of Ibiza while having the most relaxing time as a family.

• Paradise is a close synonym to describe Cala D’Hort, a wonderful isolated sand and rock creek – with some beach bars, restaurants and a tranquil and family-friendly atmosphere.
• Cala Bassa is a bit up north, but still a very easy to reach creek. The history behind this creek and what gives name to it is that originally it was a small raft that thanks to the rain and artificial work it was united with the ocean. It has a very particular feeling thanks to the trees that surround it and it’s a very family-friendly spot as well.

Ruta de Pueblos (route through the towns)

An island such as Ibiza has many charming towns and villages, what better way to explore them than through a beautiful route with your children?

• We recommend to make a day out of it and start in Santa Eulalia for a classic Ibiza landscape.
• Then head to San Antonio for a bigger town with lots of activities to do as a family.
• Finally, San Juan to end the route in a small village, with the loveliest houses, breath-taking views and charming atmosphere.

Parque natural de Ses Salines (Natural Park of the Salts)

A preserved park, to ensure that its beauty, habitat and species are safe. A wonderful area located in the south of the island, where you can experience a side of the Mediterranean natural habitat that will forever stay with you. A great and easy way to spend a good quality time with your family and loved ones, while being surrounded by nature.

Islote Es Vedrà (Will See Islet)

The Es Vedrà islet is said to have a unique and special energy, why don’t you and your family see if it’s true? There are lots of legends involving this particular spot. Due to preservation reasons, people cannot go inside the islet, but if you want to adventure yourself and let your kids see the islet from up close, we recommend a beautiful boat trip to es Vedrà.

Es Cubells (The Buckets)

In this picturesque village, it will seem as if time suddenly stopped. We recommend visiting it to explore a side of Ibiza that’s less crowded and more idyllic – the moment you will truly feel like you’re on holiday!

• Walk through its few streets to see an old church, a kids play park and tow bars where you can sit and take in the view while drinking some nice cold beverages and tapas.
• From Es Cubells you also get the most magical view of Formentera, definitely worth it when you’re in the area.

Sant Josep de sa Talaia (Saint Josep of the Watchtower)

Protected by the tall Sa Talaia Mountain that gives name to the town, Sant Josep’s village has its own unique atmosphere and it’s only 15km away from the capital of Ibiza.

• Spend the day enjoying the beautiful Sun within some of the most beautiful beaches of Ibiza such as Playa de Salines, Cala d’Hort, Cala Compte or Cala Vedella.
• There are several historic monuments worth visiting as well such as defence towers that were built to protect the island from possible invaders and several churches with unique architectural value.
• Sant Josep de Sa Talaia also holds some of the most important natural parks from the Balearic Islands: Reserva des Vedrà, Es Vedranell and Els Illots de Ponent.
